My Favourite CT Piece of 2014

OK, you're going to laugh but even with all the themes and pieces done this year, my favourite one is actually my first of the year! Not simply b/c I tried pastels or that I love the possible story behind it but by being the very first piece in the renewed CT, it embodies all the promise of things to come from a fresh start. It says new adventures too...just like this year has indeed been!

So, haha, at this rate then, my next fave piece (for 2015) will surely be whatever I do next in January! Oh my. Wouldn't that be funny?

With that said then, let me say a special thank you to those of you who followed along from the old CT and came back on board with the new CT. I'm so glad this restarted. It has been very rewarding knowing that for some of you, like me, this co-op helped reignite our creative endeavors, blowing the dust off, as it were.

Now, with the addition of some new peeps it again feels very much like our own little online family. Love that. Thank you!

You know, I wanted to also include our xmas card we had for this year but guess what? It's duly lost! More specifically, forgotten where we put it actually, having only found the cards again just a week or so ago (brought last year when we were in London). The task now is to post this card to all of you ...closer to Christmas Day. (Maybe I'll have found it by then? At least if I never get to mail it, I can send it virtually to all of you here.

BTW, our next theme's announcement will be next Tuesday, December 23rd but not due until January 6th, the traditional 12th day of Christmas and the official end of the Christmastide season! Feel free to visit any time before the 6th but if you do happen to pop back in on xmas week, you'll find my xmas wish for you here! Until then wishing each of you a safe, happy, meaningful season full or wonder. In the interim, I'm looking forward to reading your "fave" piece posts. :)

  1. You have chosen a wonderful piece, so nicely done Michael. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you, Alexandra and the family! I hate when things go missing like like, I just give up and say..."It'll show up" and it eventually does.

  2. I just love this picture. It is exactly how I feel going into the New Year. My Word for 2015 is Intentional. For the last hour I have worked on two pieces to go into my new storybook - my goal to publish in 2015.
I would love to know more about the challenges - I am afraid I have missed this in all the comings and goings of this year.
    Blessings,
    Janis

  3. This is the cutest! I agree, Mister Mousey is diving head on into new and fun challenges (and implied travel, :-D as he's going into a boat), and that's a great goal for all of us for the new year. I love the colors and how free and happy he looks, great character design. As someone who was part of both C.T.s, I'm so glad it's back! It's lovely to see everyone's beautiful work, and have challenges to inspire you to make cool new things and see how you interpreted it differently than a fellow artist. Thank you again Michael (although I usually call you Mister Toast, as I think that's such a cool online/pen name), and looking forward to your art and your challenges for us in 2015! :-), Donna

    1. Yup, I like the drawing, the colouring, mind you is bothersome for me--takes so long! :)

    2. I like the takes so long bit. You don't enjoy that part? Is drawing relaxing to you? I love the fun of it.

  6. I adore this one. I made up a story in my mind when you first did it, and my imagination runs wild with possibilities.
When my computer crashed I lost my pictures, and didn't have time to go back to all my blogs to recover one. Sorry, but I sure enjoyed seeing everyones and leaving a comment. Merry Christmas to you and Alexandra and looking forward to a New Year for many reasons.

  7. this is a fun piece, I actually remember seeing it, and finding it very inspiring, although I don't remember the theme at all. did I even do anything for that week?

thanks, always, for your inspired words here and also on the comments you leave at my blog and every elses as I sometimes do read comments on other fellow CT's blogs.

and thanks your continuation of this group, it is very much appreciated as it does motivate me a lot and also, it makes me actually finish a drawing or two. you do not know how slow I can be.

    have a wonderful, wonderful holiday!

  8. Rupert certainly was on the start of a new adventure and this drawing perfectly sums that up. Thank you so much Michael for reintroducing CT's and for the extra work you put in so that we can all enjoy it. Merry Christmas to you and Alexandra.

    1. Happy christmas to you too, Linda. I had to laugh, reading back through your blog last night from before we restarted and reading how you had essentially abandoned your blog and art for a while there. Glad you are back into now!

  9. Love this illustration--as soon as i saw it, my mind started creating a story for the little mouse. You did such an amazing job creating movement and story in one picture. I love the water's colors and movement too.
