It has been a wonderful Christmas. We celebrated with my sister and her
family on the 24th (10 of us), then on the 25th we celebrated with husband
M's ...
NEW THEME due by Oct 21st.
As some of you know, Alex has a dear lil' Scottie, Brendel, who, while not really being a puppy anymore and showing more and more grey, is indeed very much our "pups" as she likes to call him. He's a bundle full of energy, never tiring of chasing balls, his obsession. Anyway, he really is quite a darling, very youthful and fun, so I decided to depict him here using a FOUND OBJECT (the end of a loo paper roll, actually!) for his sausage-like body. Hahha. Call me crazy, but when I saw that roll ready to be tossed out, I thought, "Aha! I can cut up the ends and make it into the bottom of this guy's furry coat!"
To be clear- all you have to do for this theme is find an everyday object of some kind, place it on a piece of paper and draw around it, making it look like something else! (Note: while you can not only use found objects, you can have more than one if you like in the picture, just as long as you have some doodle/drawing with it too.) Believe me, half the fun is looking at normal things and wondering just how one could use them as part of a picture.
If you're still baffled on how to do this, how about checking out CT's Pinterest board or these inspirations that first gave me the idea?! (I particularly love Debbie Ohi's Walnut faced doggie and those Cheerio bugs. Funny and oh so brilliant. Now, which is your favourite?) Can't wait to see what each of you do. Have fun with it. Drawing it will be fairly quick and easy, I should imagine, so the real challenge will be more coming up with the right borrowed object for your picture. It will be interesting too seeing what kind of objects each of us use for our sketches, no? Enjoy! Oh, and no, this is not my entry. I'm just getting started! :)
P.S. Laurie, if you're reading this, please come try us this time around as your link to the last theme didn't work and we'd love to have you join us. Thank you too to each of you who joined in the pie fun. (Don't forget to sign up for Lissa's 100th post giveaway too, mentioned in last post.)
entered at Lissa's! And this is a fun challenge for the next Creative Tuesdays...hmm.
ReplyDeleteoh and love what you did with the pup. I did think it was your entry.
DeleteOh my gosh, I know my link failed but it was my fault, I'm so sorry, I temporarily lost some blog posts, I had painted an old stone church filled with pies, mostly pumpkin pies, lol, I will enjoy this new challenge, its very ummm, "challenging:, lol , I love this little dog you created, its a perfect portrait of Brendel!!
ReplyDeleteNo worries, Laurie, just glad you saw my note. I tell you what, when you post your "found object(s)" piece, please just include a link to your previous pies on too. that way we can also enjoy it. :)
DeleteSuch a fun and clever challenge. Inspirational to use the end of a toilet roll for Brendel's body, I wonder what you will now think up for this one?
ReplyDeletehaha, maybe a crumpled up tissue? One never knows. Actually, I have a few objects collected already. Will likely do a few on one sheet of paper.
DeleteI say !!!... You just seem to have an expanding imagination, don't you? .. I love the dog you did and I know sometimes I see things too when an object is lying around. Thanks for this theme - and sorry I haven't been able lately to take part of your challenges. Thanks for being you!!
