NEW THEME due by Dec 3rd!

Xmas Tea Wedding Cake. CT Guidelines state no photos for our art & yes, that's still true, so why here? Read below...

I don't know about you but that last "pick your word" theme was great fun, don't you think?  Some of you totally stumped me on what I thought you might do but for some I was bang on! Regardless though, it really put me in the festive mood seeing everyone's contributions. To boot, we had the pleasure of a visit from Karen (the Adventurous Art Teacher). (Perhaps some of you might remember her from way back when before CT got its own blog?)

Now, if only I could have each of you somehow magically pop up here in our little living room, sit down by the gas fireplace and take turns telling each of us what you love (or not) about December and this season in general. In fact, wouldn't it be fun to do some sort of CT Pictionary type game too, using various themes to keep us on track? Or how about a Christmas tea?! You know, something I love about co-ops like ours is how, over time, you can start to feel like you know some others well enough to perhaps even be able to imagine their laugh or what have you. :) Ahhh,I can see it now...Yes, please come along, cosy up down there and let me bring you a nice warm cuppa of... "What's that? Mulled wine you say, Linda? Yes, got some brewing...and warm mince meat pies too. Anyone...? How about some Christmas tea, Christine? And, what about you Donna? Hot cider perhaps? Hot choc? And you, Chris? ...Oh, wait now..YUM! What's that Wanda's carrying in right now from the kitchen!? Mmm...smells sooo good. (Heh, methinks I'll have one of those!) Oh, but wait, who's that at the door? Charu! Do come in. It's awfully cold outside.... And on it goes....DREAMS OF DECEMBER. Haha, I missed my calling. I would have been perfectly content as some good family's butler! No, really, it's true. I LOVE serving people and even make a pretty decent lemon shortbread, you know. That surely counts for something, right?! :)

So, onto the cake and the date! In case you haven't noticed, you'll have one extra day to sign up for this. It isn't due until Wednesday that week as I won't be around much that evening before. And, why, pretell? Well, crazily enough, Tuesday's our first year Anniversary! Whoa. Alex has plans afoot for later (after work). I do so love how she finds joy in little surprises and the simplest of things. In fact, with that said, I hope it snows too so we can just window shop under the incredible Christmas lights of downtown in all its wonder. This photo, as you might have guessed by now, shows our beautiful wedding cake I had made for the fabulous Christmas Tea we hosted a few days later to celebrate the season and all things new.

P.S. This will be the LAST official theme of the year! With the holidays rapidly approaching, the next theme after this (due Dec 16th) will be open ended. YOU pick what art to put up! I'm still deciding on whether to do one for December 30th. What do you think?.Perhaps we could do some kind of game here or even just our own write ups instead? Or maybe we just wait until that following Tuesday, Jan 6th, and then kick off CT for the new year? Let me know. Please leave me a comment, if you think of it. Thank you.

P.P.S. Happy Thanksgiving to those of us here in the U.S! Enjoy, and count your blessings. (I LOVE thanksgiving btw — my favourite. For here, it's akin to an English Xmas in terms of all the food — good mash, turkey, stuffing and what not.)

P. P.P.S. I'm also brewing up some kind of giveaway so any ideas there for how to do it are well appreciated. Fun, fun! :)

  1. In case it's not obvious -- yes, the theme is "Dreams of December" and no, it doesn't have to be about Christmas but it could be! You tell me....and whilst at it, please do let me know your thoughts on the footnote questions and ideas. I'd LOVE to hear them! Thank you.

  2. Love your wedding cake, Happy Anniversary, you're both made for each other as far as I can tell!!
I'm fine with Dec 30 or Jan 6, being most busy before Xmas. Happy US Thanksgiving too.

I'm not much of a dreamer being more on the practical side, so this current theme might be good for me!

  5. Firstly, congratulations to such a lovely, well suited couple. I can't believe it has been a year!

I am there, at your wonderful get together, and yes drinking mulled wine and waiting for the carol singers to come calling! How do you know me so well?

I think if we have one on 16th then perhaps wait for the next one until after the New Year, but I am happy either way. Am thinking of suggestions for the next theme, my mind is buzzing but nothing clear is coming through. Perhaps I need a glass of mulled wine (LOL)!

    1. Mulled wine brewing. :)

Right, carol singers? I do so love them but we'll be waiting an awfully long time as few and far between here. Perhaps fly some in with you> There's room for everyone! Good thign about virtual, that.

Yes, A and I are ridiculously alike, it's scary even from having come to tow TOTALLY different backgrounds and upbringings. We so often say (and think) the same things at the same time, it's quite funny. It was scary to open up my heart again and to someone new but glad I did. I am such a homebody, you know!

Well, ok, if you have any other ideas, do pop by here and let me know. BTW, I really am making mulled wine in a few weeks. Now, I just need Mary, below (another ex-pat, in NC) to bring me some of her homemade xmas mincemeat pies and all will be right with my little world. Well, almost. :)

  6. Michael, a year already!!! Where does time go? I know you two must truly be made for each other - I can hear the happiness and joy in your voice when you 'talk' here about Alex. Congratulations and may each year ahead be even better than the previous one!
Speaking of mince pies - I bought two large jars (Robertsons brand - the marmalade company) of mincemeat yesterday, to which I'll add extra rum! The little traditional English pies will be ready around Christmas Eve, along with the brandied nog if you can stop by!
Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy your anniversary celebration.
    Hugs - Mary

    1. Mary! What a brilliant surprise to see your name pop up here. Oooooh, you have no idea jus thow much i would so love to take you up on that offer. Hmm...now if only I coudl figure out how to swing it to NC! Soudns so good. Well, be that as it may, I at least ahve a World MArket nearby where one is able to pick up pre-made mince pies, and other crucial items like English tea and digestives, etc etc. Phew! Still, not as good homemade pies, I know. Thank you so much for the visit and your well wishes. Means a lot as you know just what a long long hard/painful ride it's been these last 5-6 years. Things are definitely turning around, thanks if large part to getting to know Alex and allowing love back into my life. Thank you.

  7. Well you made me smile and blush Michael... I didn't know I was famous haha.
So excited to be back... after being very stressed the past couple of years, I decided to make time to create something weekly just for me no matter what it looked like, and guess what I'm having Fun! Now to come up with something for Dreams of December.
Oh and congratulations on being happily married. Your new wife wouldn't be Alex, from Blue Chair Diary would it?

    1. YES, it is indeed! now, SHE is famous...sort of. lol. I'm lucky to have met her...through art, no less!

You know, Karen, I actually quit Creative Tuesday for a while, about 6 months, but rather lie you, found I was not doing any art at all and then came to find out neither were the others who contribute here. CT gives us all just enough motivation to keep it up every TWO weeks, btw. :) thank you and am excited to have you back. I remember your other pieces very well as I still have the collages I made way back when of everyone's pieces.

Yes, I know all about stress. ...tons of that over the last 6 years. Art is good therapy...as is indeed a supportive community. You can, no doubt, "Teach" us a lot!

  8. Michael!! Thank you SO much for your wonderful comments at the ol' blog..I really appreciate that! And thank you, too, for alerting me to the link error..fixing now. I have a lot of respect for many faiths, and so to help Kathleen's mission has already blessed me in so many ways. It's an exciting journey I tell you - and thank you for your very generous thoughts about my work for her book. I hope to give this all of the love it so deserves, and I, too, hope that it will help many children indeed. Thanks again! And a giant pre-HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO YOU AND ALEX!!! Wow, 1 year already? May you both have decades and decades of joy ahead. :)

    1. Well, first time around lasted over two decades, so I'm banking n that and then some, God willing! thank you, Shirley and thank you for even taking the time to write. I think the work they are doing is exactly the kind of work one's faith should take us to--helping heal the broken hearted and lonely.

  10. Not late this time around, but I don't know if it's me or blogger, it sure takes a long time for me to get anything posted. I know Windows 8 doesn't help.
This past year has flown by. Congratulations on the anniversary. We just had our 55th !!
